Rochegude village and its chapel. From there you get a stunning view about the gorges of Allier and the Margeride plateau on the other side.

To see along the Camino ?

  • Gorges of Allier river : Incredibly wild and steep, these gorges are part of a new coming Natural Parc. They are territory of Salmon and white water sports.
  • Rochegude : Stunning view on the Allier gorges from the village and its charming chapel.
  • Monistrol d'Allier : Nice spot for a short bath in the Allier river. You can also take your time and discover the Allier gorges along the GR412 (it defitintely worths it!)
  • Troglodytic Chapel of Madeleine at 1km from Monistrol on the way up to Saugues
  • Saugues : a dungeon and St Médard cathedral with its wood carvings.

You can discover the gorges of Allier in canoe, by foot, or with a small picturesque train. There is no road. The Allier river is one of the very last wild river in Europe with Salmons still going back up the river to where they were born in order to reproduce.
